Lake View Lodge & Outdoor Bath

Relaxing Positive: It was perfect for a relaxing stay x we loved the bath

Extremely disappointing - our special of a quirky place to stay turned out to be a grave error. Positive: The location was lovely - farmland, lovely countryside, views and walks. Negative: The sofa bed was extremely uncomfortable - hard wooden "beams". Also, the bedding for the sofa bed was torn at several corners. One side light had no lampshade (I found it broken in the wardrobe). Another kept going on and off - I was frightened to go near it. The heating instructions were wrong (it wasn't even on "Run" so wouldn't work whatever we did till we discovered that error). The washbasin in the shower room was very small. That would have been manageable (the size of the room meant it had to be small) but there was an unnecessary shelf/cupboard above the basin meant that it was impossible to put your head over the basin when brushing your teeth (with inevitable messy consequences). The last straw was getting into bed to discover the stench of someone else's sweaty armpits across the top of the bedding which which sent waves nauseating smells into my nostrils throughout the night. I was disgusted.

Wonderful lodge and setting Positive: The lodge was extremely well equipped, very comfortable and cosy. The decking area was great to chill and relax and would definitely book another stay here. Negative: Nothing really. The only thing I would say is that the bath towels are small and we're very worn and that one loo roll is not sufficient for 2 guests staying 2 nights.

Pretty and peaceful Positive: The host was very nice and welcoming and quick to respond via messages. The lodge was really cute, peaceful, also nice and warm. The outdoor bath was a fun novelty. The scenery around the lodge was lovely and there were lots of really nice walks to do straight from the lodge - back along a track into East Grinstead, or further out towards a country house with spectacular gardens. Negative: I had read good things about the bed in the reviews, but the mattress was far too soft for me (personal preference) so I sometimes found it hard to get to sleep. Also I really should've looked for cheaper places to stay but that's on me. Otherwise it was very nice!
